We are excited to share that ManyManys is continuing its ORCA-supported Open Science (OS) work! Our first round of funding in 2025 demonstrated that Big Team Science can be an effective way to learn OS: it enables researchers to develop skills through concrete research projects instead of solely relying on theory. Building on this experience, this next project, led by Dr. Jennifer Vonk, Dr. Nicolas Alessandroni, and Dr. Laurent Prétôt, focuses on expanding that work: we aim to help researchers move from developing OS skills within a project to further integrating these practices into their broader research systems.
We are providing researchers–from undergraduate students to established faculty–with practical training in OS focused on challenges specific to comparative cognition research, in the form of interactive webinars, workshops, hackathons, and panel discussions covering diverse OS practices. To encourage participation, we are providing trainee fellowships and research assistant support, and we have appointed a Research Community Officer to spur engagement with the network.
Due to its focus on increasing access to OS training, this project will not only support the comparative cognition research community, but also reach researchers internationally by creating a model that can be used by other communities.
